Both mains at St Louis were epic!
In Lites, Townley won his first SX here without being the fastest in the whoops. He had an intense battle with his aggressive teammate Darcy Lange. They traded places and even rubbed a little, then on the last lap Lange goes for it on a triple going into a turn, comes up short, and does a "superman face plant," just a few feet from where Dungey was still kicking his bike. Townley stayed out of trouble and won.
Almost under the radar, Yamaha of Troy's Ryan Morais and Matt Goerke are tied for the points lead! The guys that have been getting all the attention have had good and bad races already.
The rookie Dungey again showed winning speed, but this time things went wrong for him. While in a heated battle with Townley and Lange, Dungey overjumped coming into a turn and his wheel went over a berm. In that same spot later, he would hit a tumbled Tuff Blox and pick up a cover, then he couldn't get started again.
The SX first lap was crazy for Tedesco and Ferry. Tedesco lost the front end in the sand right after the start, tumbled hard, and Ferry falls too. Ferry lands next to Tedesco's bike and his own bike kept going behind him. Both are a little looped out at this point. Ferry gets up, grabs the first bars he sees, and picks up Ivan's bike. He's on a berm at the wrong angle and needs to get around to the other side, so when he got to the rear fender as he walked around, he realized something was wierd. "Hey this is not a Kawasaki fender!" Looked over and saw Ivan on the ground and realized his own bike was somewhere else, so he dropped Ivan's and walked over to his looking at his glove...
Reed was leading the first lap, and near the end of the lap, Stewart had pinned the outside of a right handed uphill 180, when Reed squared it off and went inside. He gassed it hard ad drifted out, right into Stewart, pushing him into a Tuff Blox and he fell back on Reed's bike. He tore a patch off his gear right there.
RC got buy right then, but the lead went to Eric Sorby. That was a big gift for RC since he had a crappy start and was just trying to make up for it. RC took a couple laps to take over and he just had to stay ahead far enough. Reed got going pretty quick, but Stewart was at the very back of the pack and had to charge all the way.
Not only did Stewart catch up to Reed, he paid him back a little in the same berm when he block passed him on the outside.
Right after RC won, he stopped on a jump to see if Stewart would stop. Stewart did and motioned over at Reed. Reed stopped too and they started having words, then it broke up in what appeared to be a quick shove, then they took it a few feet away and started having words again. Things got heated all over, even at the podium.
