San Manuel Band of Mission Indians's Chad Reed earned a quick extra $50K Friday night at the US Open by taking the "Trifecta," which was the fastest quick lap, the main event holeshot, and a win!
Reed knocked Andrew Short off the top of the hot lap contest early in the show, for his first $10K of the evening. When he lined up at the gate for the main, he wanted the rest of the money! Reed told the press after the race that he was thinking about it on the line, and probably never wanted a start like he wanted this one.
On the way to the first turn, Reed elbowed Alessi (on his new Makita Suzuki) then really got in an elbow war with Ferry, and Reed came out ahead.
That set up a perfect race for Reed, and a perfect trifecta. Langston was second, Short third, then Ferry, Alessi, Demuth and Reardon.
Langston and Reed are supposed to trade front suspension for tonight. Yamaha has a new fork set from KYB, but only one set. So they worked it out where Langston uses them one night, and Reed the next.
Some extra news for the night surfaced when Terry Boyd mentioned during the show that the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians would be a major sponsor of SX in 2008. (Did he say "title?" No. Yes. Maybe. Well, no.)

Fake caption for cop in background - "OK, I'll knock that kid off his bike and take it, then the girls and the money. I love this town..."
